So, wow... to say that I am sore wouldn't even cut it after last nights work out. My legs hurt so bad, from the back of my buttocks, front thigh, inner thigh and yes a bit even in my arms from lifting that 15lb weight in the squat.
One thing I didn't mention yesterday when explaining the metabolic workout is that we did 4 reps of all of those.
Just finished up with my work out today -- we focused on arms primarily but also incorporated legs too. Well as Jillian Michael's puts it "you work legs in with arms because arms don't burn enough calories on their own"
We took it easy today and went for a 30 minute walk around our community. I really enjoy walking at night, its peaceful and it's nice to just chat (which walking permits since your not really out of breath). However by the time I reached her house to begin tonight's metabolic workout I was sweating.
Tonight I did: 5lb weights (she did 10lb poor thing!) raising to my eye level then down, then up and out to my sides and down and we repeated these moves over and over for the 45 sec, then we did a squat (OUCH!) and dumbbell row for 45 sec, and then maintaining another squat (ouch ouch!) we did tricep kickbacks, and then finally we did just a straight bicep curl. We repeated this 3x. Since her lighter weights were the 5lb ones I decided to try and give her a break (will have to bring my own next time) and take on the 10lb beasts. Yeah that was challenging.
I just might have to call her Hercules from now on! I can't believe she was able to keep up on those, I could barely lift them to my eyes and especially out to the sides. I pushed through it then we traded back, let me tell ya those 5lb weights felt lighter after that - haha!
After all that we started our 24 day abs challenge today too. I wanted to share this and challenge anyone who wants to join along with us, don't look at day 24 or you may crap yourself, just focus on day by day and keep in mind you are building your stamina as you go. We did today and it wasn't hard at all. I've attempted this challenge before back in November and I made it to day 18, now I'm not going to lie -- it wasn't EASY and it isn't supposed to be, you grunt, scream, moan and cry through it but it does make a HUGE difference in your stomach. I had people commenting how slim my waist line was getting and how flat my stomach was getting -- and most importantly I was noticing it myself! So here it is:
So exercise. Check.
Eating. Check. I'm actually super proud of my nutrition today. It isn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be, in fact I don't really feel like I'm missing out on anything. I actually want to share with you a few pictures of the things I ate -- it was super easy and satisfying.
For breakfast I just had a fruit salad (strawberries, bananas and apples cut up in a bowl together)
Lunch was this:
![]() |
| A bowl of cottage cheese, an entire tomato, mushrooms sautéed in a bit of butter and garlic, and my 2 poached eggs on whole wheat toast (and of course my water), it filled me up nicely! |
Later in the afternoon for my snack:
So how do I make the nuggets you may ask? Well my friend got creative herself yesterday and so kindly shared with me her home made chicken nuggets recipe, which she made using crushed melba toast, I didn't have any melba toast so she suggested that I just toast whole wheat bread and crush that up, so that's what I did. I mixed in a bit of mozza cheese to add some "glue" and dipped the chicken in a bit of egg to get it nice and sticky; I baked both at 350F for about 30 min.
I'm not entirely satisfied with how my fries turned out, I am going to play around with it to find a way to make them more crispy without the unhealthy deep frying but they were cooked. They were edible but can definitely use some work.
(what I did was just glazed them in grapeseed oil, seasoned with a bit of sea salt and pop in the oven)
Anyway the nuggets were such a hit that I literally won't buy the bagged nuggets anymore, so easy and man do they taste WAY better. I wasn't thinking it was going to be enough to fill me up so I was going to have a salad with it, yeah that wasn't happening. I was FULL.
Right now for my after work out snack I am eating a small amount of trail mix and since its Friday my husband and I will watch a movie so I am having a "thinsations" 100 calorie fudge bar (which will be my "chocolate bar" and i'm having another 20 of those chips above... so 180 calories for a movie snack, not bad if you ask me!
Anyway that's my blog for today, busy today again tomorrow -- I don't get a break from the working out until Monday, however for some reason today I was super excited to exercise.
I feel a change going on in me.
~Ciao~
